Description

DL-Prolinamide is an amide of proline. It has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells by inhibiting the apoptosis pathway. DL-Prolinamide inhibits the synthesis of prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) that is involved in chronic cough and asthma. DL-Prolinamide also has a depressant effect on central nervous system activity, which may be due to its ability to bind with GABA receptors and inhibit the transmission of nerve impulses. DL-prolinamide is water soluble and can be used as a pharmaceutical preparation for intravenous administration or oral administration in tablet form. It is not metabolized in vivo because it does not have any functional groups that can be metabolized by esterases or glucuronidases.
