P-Cresyl phenylacetate is a chemical compound that can be used in the synthesis of ester compounds. It is made by reacting sodium nitrate with peroxide and a low energy source, such as heat or light. The reaction yield depends on the length of time, which can be increased by adding benzoate to the mixture. P-Cresyl phenylacetate has been shown to undergo bond cleavage when exposed to chlorine and ethyl cinnamate. This product is also heat resistant and does not react with deionized water or calcium carbonate.
