- 4-(4-Formylphenyl)pyridine
- 4-Pyridin-4-ylbenzaldehyde
- 4-(Pyridin-4-Yl)Benzaldehyde
4-Pyridin-4-yl-benzaldehyde is a putative drug that has been shown to have conductances. It inhibits the growth of leukemia cells and human colon carcinoma cells. 4-Pyridin-4-yl-benzaldehyde also binds to amines and phosphites, which are found in the surface of cancer cells. This binding leads to an increase in the number of electrons that can be transferred from the molecule to the cell, which prevents phosphorylation reactions from occurring. The result is a decrease in protein synthesis, leading to cell death. 4-Pyridin-4-yl-benzaldehyde also has antimalarial properties and can be used as a fluorescent probe for xanthine oxidase activity.
