Description

4-Pyridinemethanol is a colorless, oily liquid that has a strong pungent odor. It is soluble in water and reacts with acids to form an acidic solution. 4-Pyridinemethanol has been used in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals, such as anti-viral agents, and as a control agent for chemical reactions. This compound is also used as an intermediate in organic synthesis and to synthesize other compounds. 4-Pyridinemethanol can react with nucleophilic agents, such as chloride ions, which are found in human serum.
