Pencycuron is a chemical pesticide that inhibits the enzyme activity of 2-aminoisobutyric acid. Pencycuron has been shown to have carcinogenic potential in vitro, but this effect was not observed in vivo. Pencycuron also caused genotoxic effects in vitro. It is a diphenyl ether and nitrogen containing pesticide and has been shown to cause oxidative DNA damage in vitro. This chemical has shown acute toxicity, with chronic exposure causing adverse effects on the liver and kidneys, as well as reproductive toxicity.
