Polygonal is a drug that is used to treat and prevent atherosclerotic lesions in the coronary artery. It inhibits the growth of vascular smooth muscle cells, which are responsible for forming atherosclerotic lesions. Polygonal binds to the receptor on the surface of these cells, which prevents them from proliferating and secreting collagen. The drug also inhibits angiogenesis by binding to specific antibodies, inhibiting their ability to bind receptors on endothelial cells. Polygonal has been shown to inhibit virus strains by interfering with viral replication through genetic mechanisms, such as preventing viral RNA synthesis or inhibiting viral protein production.
