2-Phenyl-1H-benzoimidazole-5-carboxylic acid is a molecule that has shown to have cytotoxic effects on human cells. It also has been shown to induce apoptosis in a number of human cell lines, including CD4+ T cells. The chemical structure of 2-phenylbenzoimidazole-5-carboxylic acid is similar to the benzodiazepine family of drugs, and it may have an inhibitory effect on the immune system.
