• Description: L-Phenylalanine ethyl ester hydrochloride is a chemical compound that is the ethyl ester of L-phenylalanine. It has been shown to have anticancer activity in vitro, and has been studied as a potential treatment for leukemia. The anticancer effects of L-phenylalanine ethyl ester hydrochloride are thought to be due to its ability to disrupt the DNA replication machinery by attacking amines and other nucleophilic groups. L-Phenylalanine ethyl ester hydrochloride was found to induce apoptosis in human hepatoma cells through the generation of reactive oxygen species and activation of caspases. This compound also has an absorption peak at 260 nm, which makes it suitable for use as a UV light absorber.
