It has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells in vitro and in vivo. It also has a protective effect against neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease, by inhibiting tyrosine kinase activity. Pyrazin-2-yl-hydrazine has been shown to have antimycobacterial activity against mycobacterium tuberculosis and Mycobacterium avium complex.
