It is used as a research tool for studying the role of b-raf in cancer. 5-Pyridin-4-yl-2H-pyrazol-3-ylamine has been shown to have similar activity to other inhibitors of bRaf. It binds to the ATP binding site on bRaf and prevents phosphorylation of serine residues in the activation loop by ATP. This inhibition prevents activation of the kinase and reduces tumor growth in cancer models.
