Description

Trans-4-Propylcyclohexanecarboxylic Acid is a chiral carbonyl compound. It has been used as a feedstock in the hydrogenation of cyclohexanes and butenes. The reaction system can be an alcohol or a chloride, which are dehydrated to form the corresponding ester. Trans-4-Propylcyclohexanecarboxylic Acid is a liquid crystal composition that has been shown to have a positive effect on the synthesis of organic molecules with metal ruthenium catalysts. The chloride can also be replaced by other halides, such as bromide and iodide, for different reactions.
