Description

Periplocin is a natural compound that has been extracted from rhizoma gastrodiae and radix notoginseng. It inhibits cell proliferation by targeting the bcl-2 protein, which is a cell survival protein. Periplocin suppresses the expression of bcl-2 protein and induces G1 phase arrest in human squamous cell cancer cells. Periplocin also has antiinflammatory effects, which may be due to its inhibition of toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4).
