Description

8-Prenylnaringenin is a naturally occurring compound that has been shown to have biological activity in vitro. It has been found to act as an estrogen receptor agonist and may play a role in the prevention of breast cancer. 8-Prenylnaringenin binds to the estrogen receptor with high affinity and specificity, and its binding results in increased levels of prolactin in serum. This compound also has anti-inflammatory effects, which may be due to its inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis. Other studies have shown that 8-prenylnaringenin is genotoxic, meaning it damages DNA, but this effect was only observed at high concentrations.
