Description

3'-Prenyldaidzein is a natural compound that has been shown to have significant cytotoxicity against cancer cells. 3'-Prenyldaidzein binds to DNA polymerase and prevents the formation of nucleoside triphosphates, which are required for DNA synthesis. The binding of 3'-prenyldaidzein to DNA polymerase also prevents the formation of RNA and protein. 3'-Prenyldaidzein has been shown to be an inhibitor of multidrug resistance-associated protein (MRP) in human cancer cells, which may be due to its effect on inhibiting ATP hydrolysis. This natural product is extracted from the fruit of Fructus ligustri, which belongs to the Rutaceae family. It is used as a therapeutic agent in traditional Chinese medicine for inflammation and infectious diseases.
