Perfluoroheptanesulfonic acid is a compound that belongs to the class of perfluoroheptanesulfonic acids. It is used in analytical chemistry as a chemical substance for dry weight, thermal expansion, and toxicological studies. Perfluoroheptanesulfonic acid has been shown to cause chronic exposure in rats at high concentrations. This exposure resulted in an increased rate of DNA damage, which was caused by fluorine atoms that are present in the molecule. The acidity of the compound also causes an increase in the rate of infectious diseases, such as cholera and malaria.
