- 2-Propenoic Acid, 2,3,4,5,6-Pentafluorophenyl Ester
- Pentafluorophenyl acrylate
Pentafluorophenyl acrylate (PFPA) is a reactive, antimicrobial agent that is used in the treatment of cervical cancer. PFPA has been shown to have an effect on the thermal expansion of cell culture polymer, which may be due to its ability to react with fatty acids and amines. PFPA also has antibacterial efficacy against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. The mechanism of action is not well understood, but it is thought that PFPA kills bacteria by reacting with oxydized lipids in their cell membranes and disrupting their function. This can lead to bacterial death either through lysis or inhibition of cellular processes.ref name="doi:10.1016/j.apmr.2015.04.004">/ref>
