Perfluorooctanamidine is a colorant that has been used in the textile industry as a reactive dye. It can be synthesized by reacting an aralkyl compound with dioxime and then converting the tautomeric form to the peroxide with hydrogen peroxide. The acrylates react with the hydroxyl group in the presence of catalysts such as titanium dioxide and silicon to produce polymers of high molecular weight. The colorants are formed by adding a silicon compound, such as tetraethoxysilane or tetramethoxydisiloxane, to an elastomer or thioether.
