Perfluorotrihexylamine is a perfluorinated compound that is used in the production of polymer films. It has a proton and fluorine atom, which are essential for its chemical stability. Perfluorotrihexylamine can be found in copolymers with other perfluorinated compounds, such as tetrafluoroethylene and hexafluoropropylene. The methyl alcohol group of perfluorotrihexylamine can react with hydroxyl groups on the surface of polymers to form copolymers. These copolymers have been shown to have radiation-sensitive properties and can be patterned using electron beams or ion beams. Perfluorotrihexylamine is labile and will decompose at moderately high temperatures (e.g., >100 °C) or when exposed to UV light.
