Description

1H,1H,2H,2H-Perfluoroalkyl-1-thiols are a class of compounds that consist of a perfluoroalkyl chain and a thiol group. These compounds have been shown to be useful in the analysis of organic materials. They can be used as a matrix for matrices-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) imaging, where they are oriented on the surface of the sample and then ionized by laser irradiation. The photoelectron generated from this process is used to identify the analyte's molecular weight and structure through electron microscopy. This technique has been applied to analyze diode surfaces, monolayers, analyzing particles and focused dipoles.
