Potassium Tetrakis(Pentafluorophenyl)Borate is an acetonitrile ligand that binds to a proton. It is used as a binding agent for the synthesis of metallocene catalysts, which are used in the production of polyethylene and polypropylene plastics. This compound is also used in industrial processes, such as transduction and trisubstituted reactions, due to its low cost and high reactivity. Potassium Tetrakis(Pentafluorophenyl)Borate has been shown to be more efficient at lower temperatures than other borate cocatalysts.
