4-Quinoxalin-2-ylphenol is a molecule that inhibits the enzyme acetylcholinesterase, which breaks down acetylcholine. Acetylcholine is a neurotransmitter that helps to transmit signals from one nerve cell to another. 4-Quinoxalin-2-ylphenol has been shown to be an inhibitor of the enzyme acetylcholinesterase, which breaks down acetylcholine. It is also an effective inhibitor of other molecules such as cathepsin D and butyrylcholinesterase. 4-Quinoxalin-2-ylphenol has been found to be active against Alzheimer's disease by inhibiting the aggregation of amyloid beta peptides in mice and rats. This molecule also has potentiodynamic polarization properties, which may be due to its protonation or hydrolysis by hydrochloric acid.
