Description

Retrocyclin-1 is a synthetic peptide that exhibits antimicrobial activity against a wide range of microbial pathogens. It has been shown to be effective against HIV and other viruses, as well as bacterial and fungal infections. Retrocyclin-1 also has autoimmune disease-modulating effects, including the ability to inhibit the inflammatory response in vivo. This peptide binds to microbial surface receptors and disrupts their chemotactic activity, which prevents them from infecting new cells. Retrocyclin-1 also inhibits protease activity and human serum proteases, thereby inhibiting microbial infection.
