It has been shown to have a brittleness of less than 1% and can be used for the production of polyester. Resorcinol-o,o'-diacetic acid is also used as an intermediate in the synthesis of terephthalic acid and chromatographic detection method. Resorcinol-o,o'-diacetic acid is hydrophilic and can be used for packaging food and packaging materials.
