Description

Sodium tetraboratepentahydrate is an inorganic compound that has anti-fungal properties. It is a white powder that is soluble in water and has a pH of 9.3-11.5. In the industrial setting, sodium tetraboratepentahydrate is used to remove nitro, alkenyl, and dialkylamino compounds from wastewater streams. It is also used as a prespecified damaging agent for chemical analyses, including mutagenicity and antibacterial studies. Sodium tetraboratepentahydrate can be toxic to humans if ingested or inhaled at high concentrations. The substance may cause irritation and damage to the skin, eyes, mucous membranes and respiratory tract when contacted at high concentrations or for prolonged periods of time. Sodium tetraboratepentahydrate may have mutagenic effects on bacteria or yeast cells when exposed to ultraviolet light or ionizing radiation.
