• Description: D,L-Serine methyl ester hydrochloride is an antibacterial agent. It inhibits bacterial growth by inhibiting the synthesis of cell wall peptidoglycan and the formation of the bacterial cell membrane. D,L-serine methyl ester hydrochloride is a reactive intermediate that has been shown to react with azides and methyl esters to form diazonium salts, which can be used as transfer catalysts. This compound also reacts with linezolid to form a new aminoalcohol, which can then be converted into carboxylic acids. The yield of this reaction depends on the type of alcohol used in the reaction.
