Description

Sodium hydrogen tartrate is a salt that is commonly used as an acidity regulator and buffer. Sodium hydrogen tartrate has been shown to have a therapeutic effect in the treatment of bowel disease and also to be beneficial for locomotor activity. It is also used as a buffering agent and can be added to acidic foods, such as fruit juices, to prevent them from spoiling and becoming rancid. Sodium hydrogen tartrate is chemically stable at high temperatures, which makes it suitable for use in cooking. It does not react with other compounds or metals. Its pH ranges from 5-6 when dissolved in water. The sodium ion present in this compound assists in maintaining the body's electrolyte balance by interacting with potassium ions, which are crucial for nerve conduction and muscle contraction. This compound also has antioxidant properties because it can scavenge reactive oxygen species (ROS) such as superoxide radicals and hydroxyl radicals, thus preventing oxidative damage to cells.
