Dimethyldithiocarbamic acid has been shown to be a ligand for the influenza virus, inhibiting viral activity by binding to the hemagglutinin protein. The functional theory explains the stabilization of this compound through coordination with nitrogen atoms on one side and phenyl substituents on the other side.
