This agent has also been shown to react with p-nitrophenyl phosphate to form a fluorescent product, which can be detected at low concentrations. Sodium monofluorophosphate has a thermal expansion coefficient that is only slightly larger than those of water and glycerol, which makes it ideal for use in the production of dental fillings.
