Description

Sedanolide is a natural compound that has been shown to induce autophagy and inhibit the growth of cancer cells. Sedanolide was synthesized by an asymmetric synthesis, followed by a preparative high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method. The mechanism of action of sedanolide is not fully understood; however, it may have anticancer effects through its ability to stimulate tumor cell death in vitro. The LD50 of sedanolide was found to be 7.5 mg/kg when administered orally to rats, suggesting that this compound is relatively safe for use in humans. Sedanolide has also been shown to have immunosuppressive effects on the immune system and can help treat autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and type I diabetes mellitus. !--
