- Silver Triflimide
Silver Bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide (AgOTf) is a compound that reacts with hydroxyl groups in the presence of silver ions to form AgOH. It is used in the synthesis of prenylated compounds and as an anticancer agent. The mechanism of AgOTf is not well known, but it has been proposed that the reaction proceeds through a nucleophilic substitution at the carbon atom with the hydroxyl group. In this process, a chloride ion is eliminated from the molecule. Silver Bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide can be used to create methyl ketones by reacting with an alkyne in the presence of sodium carbonate and carbonyl compounds such as acetone or methyl ethyl ketone.
