Description :Sodium 1-Hexadecanesulfonate is a synthetic, non-ionic surfactant. It is used in industrial applications as a wetting agent, corrosion inhibitor and antifoaming agent. The chemical can be used for cleaning and disinfecting surfaces due to its biodegradable properties. Sodium 1-Hexadecanesulfonate has been shown to have a low redox potential, which enables it to function as an oxidant or reductant depending on the pH of the solution. It can also be used in the production of aluminium oxide as it reacts with boron nitride to produce aluminium borate, which is then reduced by sodium carbonate to form aluminium hydroxide. In addition, Sodium 1-Hexadecanesulfonate has been shown to react with dodecyl chloride and sodium citrate to produce dodecylsodium citrate, which can then be hydrolyzed by chloride ions into dodecane and
