Description :
Swertianolin is a natural compound that has been shown to have antiviral and anti-cancer properties. It has been found to inhibit the growth of cancer cells and to suppress inflammation, which may be due to its ability to induce apoptosis. Swertianolin also inhibits mitochondrial membrane potential and increases the sensitivity of cancer cells to oxidative stress. Swertianolin is effective in inhibiting hepatitis B virus replication and may be useful as a treatment for hepatitis C virus infection. Swertianolin is also an inhibitor of fatty acid oxidation. The mechanism of action is not fully understood, but it may be due to its ability to inhibit the synthesis of fatty acids or their release from mitochondria into the cytoplasm.
