Description :5-Phenoxypyrimidine is a pharmaceutical preparation that is used to treat gastric ulcers. It is a prodrug that is converted in the body to 5-phenylpyrimidin-2,4-dione, which inhibits the formation of salt and alkali in the stomach. 5-Phenoxypyrimidine binds to the active site of H+K+ATPase enzyme, thereby preventing it from transporting hydrogen ions into the gastric mucosa where they cause ulcers. This drug may also reduce the rate of gastric acid secretion and increase the pH of gastric secretions.br>br>5-Phenoxypyrimidine can be taken with food or water, but should not be taken with milk or dairy products as it will inhibit their absorption.
