2,3,5-Trimethylphenol is a chemical compound that is used as an intermediate in the production of trifluoroacetic acid (TFA). It is also used in organic synthesis and phytochemical studies. 2,3,5-Trimethylphenol has been shown to react with peroxide and organic solvents. This reaction results in the formation of 3-hydroxybenzoic acid and hydroxylamine. The reaction time depends on the concentration of 2,3,5-trimethylphenol and the volume of solvent used for activation. 2,3,5-Trimethylphenol has functional groups such as heterocycles or carbonyl group. Activation energy for this reaction was found to be 30 kcal/mol. Kinetic data for this reaction was found to be first order with respect to 2,3,5-trimethylphenol and zero order with respect to peroxide concentration.
