Description

Trimethylsilylcyanide is a compound that is used in the synthesis of trifluoroacetic acid. It has been shown to have an anti-HIV activity, which may be due to its ability to bind to nitrogen atoms in the HIV virus and prevent the virus from attaching to its receptor. Trimethylsilylcyanide also has hypoglycemic effect. The chemical structure of this substance is similar to that of picolinic acid, which has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria and fungi by interfering with their metabolism. This chemical can also be used as a reagent for organic chemistry reactions such as palladium-catalyzed coupling reactions.
