2-Trifluoromethyl aniline is a molecule that contains the trifluoromethyl group. It has been synthesized by the reaction of hydrochloric acid and hydrogen fluoride with copper chloride and sodium carbonate, followed by treatment with quinoline derivatives. The intramolecular hydrogenation of 2-trifluoromethyl aniline produces a mixture of diastereomers with different stereochemistry at C2. This compound is active as an enzyme inhibitor, which may be due to its ability to inhibit enzymes that hydrolyze amines.
