TT is chemically reactive and can form carbamic acid or amines through the reaction of its nitrogen atoms. It also reacts with other compounds to form new molecules. TT has been used in a model system to study the chemical reactions of metal ions. The structure of TT has been studied using NMR spectroscopy and it is known that TT's molecular constant is expressed in nanometers.
