2-[[3-(Trifluoromethyl)phenyl]amino]-3-Pyridinecarboxylic acid 2-(4-morpholinyl)ethyl ester hydrochloride (2-TCPAEM) is a β-cyclodextrin derivative that is a potent anti-inflammatory and analgesic drug. It has been shown to be more effective than indomethacin in animal models of inflammation. 2-TCPAEM binds to cyclodextrins, which are water soluble carbohydrates, and the complex is more soluble in water and less toxic than indomethacin. The molecular modeling studies have shown that 2-TCPAEM binds to the hydrophobic pocket of cyclodextrin, making it an analogue of phenylbutazone. The analogous compounds have been synthesized using β-cyclodextrin as a template for the synthesis of 2-TCPAEM. The experimental yields have been found to be 85
