Description

Triflurin is a potent and selective inhibitor of cancer cell proliferation. It binds to demecolcine-sensitive sites on mitochondria and inhibits the production of ATP, leading to the activation of apoptotic pathways. Triflurin has been shown to be an active agent in the treatment of cancer cells, including colon, pancreas, prostate, breast, and leukemia. Triflurin has also been used for its ability to prevent or slow down tumor growth by binding to specific proteins on the surface of cancer cells. Triflurin is not metabolized in vivo and has a low clearance rate from the body; this is due to its low lipophilicity. This drug has been shown to have no effect on healthy cells and tissues.
