2,4,6-Trifluorophenylboronic acid (TFBA) is a boronic acid that is used in virus research. TFBA has been shown to inhibit the replication of influenza virus in cell cultures and inhibits the release of infectious particles from cells. 2,4,6-Trifluorophenylboronic acid has a particle size of about 10 nm and a high fluorescence intensity. It is also an unsymmetrical molecule with two different functional groups on each side of the molecule. The TFBA was synthesized by reacting benzene with trifluoroacetic anhydride and then adding sodium borohydride. The effective dose for this compound is unknown but it is known to be acidic in nature.
