Description

1,5,6-Trihydroxyxanthone is a molecule found in the leaves of plants in the genus Inophyllum. It has been shown to have an anti-inflammatory effect on cells by inhibiting the production of fatty acids and suppressing epidermal growth factor (EGF). 1,5,6-Trihydroxyxanthone also has immunomodulatory effects and can be used for the treatment of skin diseases caused by radiation. The compound has been shown to inhibit the growth of staphylococci. 1,5,6-Trihydroxyxanthone can be synthesized from inophyllum extract and purified using chromatography.
