• Description: 1,2,2-Trimethylpropylamine is a hypotensive drug that has been shown to be active against fusarium oxysporum f. It is a primary amine and an effective linker for the formation of aldimines. The asymmetric synthesis of 1,2,2-trimethylpropylamine was accomplished through the activation of its secondary aminium ion with potassium tert-butoxide and subsequent reaction with activated methyl ketones. This molecule has been shown to undergo intramolecular hydrogen transfer reactions and can be used as a substrate for nmr spectra.
