2-(1,3-Thiazol-2-yl)ethanamine is a cholinergic agonist that binds to the nω-nitro-l-arginine methyl ester receptor and has been shown to have an excitatory effect on cardiac muscle. It also causes release of acetylcholine from nerve endings and increases transport rate for nucleotides in rat striatal cells. 2-(1,3-Thiazol-2-yl)ethanamine has been shown to increase intracellular calcium levels in rat striatal cells and has significant histamine releasing properties.
