Description :
1,3,5-Trimethyl-4-nitro-1H-pyrazole is a solvent that can be used in organic synthesis. It has an intramolecular hydrogen bond and a dipole moment. Transition energies for the 1,3,5-trimethyl-4-nitro-1H pyrazole molecule are found to be lower than those of a diphenylmethane molecule. The solvation energy is also found to be lower than that of a diphenylmethane molecule. The acidic hydrogen bond makes it useful as an acid scavenger in organic synthesis. The electron donor ability of the nitro group also makes it useful as a reducing agent in organic synthesis.
