• Description: 1,3-Thiazol-4-ylacetic acid hydrochloride is an antimicrobial agent that has been shown to be active against Gram-negative bacteria. It is an acidic compound that hydrolyzes in water to produce a carboxylic acid and an alcohol. 1,3-Thiazol-4-ylacetic acid hydrochloride has been used in pharmaceutical preparations as an antimicrobial and blood platelet aggregating agent. It also inhibits the coagulation of blood platelets and the aggregation of platelets. The mechanism for this may involve the interference with phospholipid biosynthesis or with the cytochrome P450 enzyme system involved in the metabolism of arachidonic acid into prostaglandins.
