Thieno[3,2-d]pyrimidine-2,4(1H,3H)-dione is a neurohormonal agent that is used to treat symptoms of autoimmune diseases. It inhibits the production of the hormone angiotensin II by binding with and inhibiting the enzyme angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE). Thieno[3,2-d]pyrimidine-2,4(1H,3H)-dione also inhibits the release of neurotransmitters from nerve cells. This drug may be used as a surface stabilizer in a variety of industrial processes. Thieno[3,2-d]pyrimidine-2,4(1H,3H)-dione has been shown to be an effective treatment for chronic cough and hyperproliferative diseases such as mda-mb-231 cell lines.
