The timescale of the reaction is on the order of seconds, but 1-(2-Tetrahydropyranyl)-1H-pyrazole can be observed in the gas phase for hours. This fluxional molecule has been shown to reversibly attack palladium at the 2 position of the pyrimidinyl moiety. The attacking nucleophile is a carbon monoxide molecule, which coordinates to palladium through a mononuclear mechanism.
