Tris(3,5-dimethylphenyl)phosphine (TDPP) is a catalytic asymmetric additive that is used to improve the solubility and stability of amines. It is also used as an ancillary additive in perfusion reactions. TDPP has been shown to protect against mitochondrial membrane potential depolarization by inhibiting the uptake of tetradentate ligands into mitochondria. The CD-1 mouse model was used to demonstrate the protective effect of TDPP against diphosphine and carbonyl group toxicity. TDPP was also shown to have intracellular targets in various cells, including CD-1 mice, which are susceptible to toxic effects of diphosphines and carbonyl groups.
