Tetramethyl1,4,5,8-naphthalenetetracarboxylate is a surfactant that has been used as a solid catalyst. It reacts with alkali metals to form reactive intermediates. Tetramethyl1,4,5,8-naphthalenetetracarboxylate is also an intermediate in the production of polyester and alicyclic compounds. The crystal x-ray diffraction pattern was rationalized by the diffraction of light from the tetramethyl1,4,5,8-naphthalenetetracarboxylate residue on the crystal surface. This chemical has been shown to be a useful solvent for alcohols and dehydration reactions. Tetramethyl1,4,5,8-naphthalenetetracarboxylate is also a reactive carboxylic acid with the chemical formula C12H18O5N6.
