It exhibits good stability and light harvesting ability and can be used as a hole scavenger in polymer solar cells. 3-(4-tert-Butyl-1-pyridinio)-1-propanesulfonate also has the potential to be used as a sulfobetaine for encapsulation of nanosized particles. The molecule is capable of transporting electrons without recombination, which yields higher efficiency than other compounds.
